Re: Nurse refusing quarantine protocol

"but you shouldn't get to force others to stay away from her, or her to stay away from others. You either believe individuals have freedoms, or you don't." Why in the name of all that is holy would a NURSE (someone who has CHOSEN a career to help others) feel so danm set on exercising her...

Re: Nurse refusing quarantine protocol

We'll have to agree to disagree. Hopefully, she remains under quarantine and doesn't become symptomatic. I can imagine the scenario if she were and were permitted to roam freely.

Re: Feeling a bit paranoid about x-husband visiting

Mintbird, preppers can fall under the category of "domestic terrorist" ,and since when did all these preppers become so trusting of anyone who works for the government? Never trust anyone who works for an agency that is in the business of confiscation. Exactly why I posted my concern. Eve...

Political posturing aside; it doesn't make sense to mandate the quarantine of the military who served in the affected countries in an effort to "stop it at the source", according to the POTUS, and yet not do the same thing to returning health care workers. Having read about this rationale ...

Re: Feeling a bit paranoid about x-husband visiting

I guess I don't understand the concern, either. Unless you have all y our stuff piled up in the living room why would he walk through your home? Unless he's staying overnight and if you have your things secured in the basement then why worry?

Re: Why Bother Saving Precious Metals?

I guess what would worry me the most, is say SHTF and you have a nice stash of PM that you had saving from a long time, who would you be able to trust enough to suggest bartering your PM for tangible goods? If things were really that bad that paper currency meant nothing and we had to be completely...

Re: IRS confiscating bank accounts, no crime involved

You never have to give your phone number to any merchant, whether you pay in cash, debit or credit. Checks are different in that most merchants require this on your check.

I've made large financial transactions through my credit union and was never questioned.

Re: Why Bother Saving Precious Metals?

Several times in the last 15 years the global financial system was within hours of total collapse due to the greed and fraud found throughout the worlds banking and investment systems. That type of collapse would erase the middle class in the US. Most experts I trust on the subject say that would n...

Re: People killing our police officers

It appears to me (in my biased view as the wife of a retired LEO) that many on here hate ALL members of law enforcement, consider them ALL corrupt, and yes would think they are better off dead. I find it sad that my DH spent 25 years of his life serving such. Too many hate on the cops but are the f...

Re: Making small steps?

You could try checking the book and magazine section right here or check Amazon. If you have Kindle, that would be a plus. I've gotten many free downloads that give rudimentary advice to beginning prepping; on a budget.

Re: Getting started with laying hens?

We got our first from a neighbor(on the small side) and upgraded this year. My husband built the run using chicken wire and posts after first digging a trench, laying wire down and then backfilling it with dirt. Then he put a roof on it. Keeps the critters out and prevents them from digging into the...

Re: OK, I'm going to go on a little rant. Ebola

Great thread, Founderant, and timely, too. I had a bit of free time yesterday and involved myself on my local paper's forum in a discussion about this. A conservative claimed he just "didn't have the tools" to deal with this and expressed dismay that the government isn't taking care of it ...

Re: Disabled and unwelcome

Awhile back, I contacted forming survivalist type group in Arizona… They did not want anyone whose family included old / infirm / disabled. At the time, my mother (now deceased) was with us. While she was not capable of heavy labor, what she knew of gardening, taking care of animals, living without...
