Re: EBOLA Pandemic-Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Neede

I know in flu season wearing gloves is a double edge sword since they can dry your skin out thus making the area of dry/irritated skin a possible route. Keep you skin moisturizer- it is your natural barrier! This has often come to mind and I was wondering: what about wearing thin white cotton glove...

Re: EBOLA Pandemic-Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Neede

Oke, I've been out shopping all night (mostly house stuff, not prep stuff), but while out I found these at Walmart: http://i.walmartimages.com/i/p/00/04/70/34/09/0004703409905_500X500.jpg http://www.walmart.com/ip/23206909?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=10&adid=22222222227000000000&wl...

Re: EBOLA Pandemic-Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Neede

As a side note, I picked up a few of the tyvek suits today. They only had XL and XXL sizes left.....and there were not many on the shelf. But then again, I don't know how many they typically stock. Just keep in mind that if you don't need those xl sizes, you'll have to SEAL them outer edges for ful...

Re: EBOLA-Who knows about 3M masks and filters

ETA: The medical literature I've read has suggested that it would be reasonable to assume that this virus can be spread through the air, in particulates like sneezes and coughs. The media is saying very different things from what PubMed is saying, which suggests they realize that "ZOMG AIRBORN...

Re: EBOLA Pandemic-Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Neede

For those trying to pull this type of PPE together, I'm thinking: The theory with gloves is that you have two easily changeable disposable layers surrounding one thicker puncture resistant layer. We all probably need WAY MORE gloves than we've got on hand. NOW is the time to stock up. Can you expla...

Re: EBOLA CONTAINMENT LOST-(Liberia Shuts Gov't & Schools Do

I only have 3 questions. Why? why? and WHY? Why bring them to the US at all... :shakeno: Speculation is that they will want to use the virus for study. Having the CDC nearby (atlanta) gives them that ability. Yea, I know ... CDC + vigilance with infectious materials = not good lately (bad timing) :...

Re: Home made burial tube (For Prep Supplies ... Not Bodies!

One question: (thinking 'out loud' about this ...) We live on 'Wetlands'. Some of our property on the edge & some right on. So, we don't have to dig too far, before it's wet. We tried to dig a pond, once and the liner kept popping out because the hole would start to quickly seep full of water. B...

Re: Home made burial tube.

Re: Who knows about 3M masks and filters

I'm sorry, I can't help with this. EBOLA is a whole new territory for me, and I'm learning as fast as I can. The difference with EBOLA and the flu, is that we are not (as of yet) talking about 'air born' (a sneeze), but a fluid that can infect us (sweat, blood, vomit, pee, etc.) That's why the need ...

Re: Hypothetical: 2 weeks til Ebola hit US shores. What to

Be careful Calcium Hypochlorate - pool shock is used to make gallons of Liquid bleach (5.25%) you DO NOT use it directly except in large tanks of water. I'm going to keep the disposable suits I wear when in the OR areas instead of ripping them and tossing them when I leave the "Red zone"....

Re: Hypothetical: 2 weeks til Ebola hit US shores. What to

Landgull, this is an amazing first post and MUCH appreciated. Everything you wrote makes sense and is what I have previously read, regarding gearing up for a serious threat. I'd rate Ebola in that category. On that note, I need to go shopping. I've used a lot of my gloves, during the years I'...

Re: Ebola Pandemic Likely? (How quickly *Could* it Spread?)
