This is a timely post as I have a question......... My basement is what used to be this home's root cellar. It now has a cement floor. I have a vague memory of reading somewhere......no clue where and I can't seem to find it now.....that when storing in a basement one should place it on wooden pall...

Whenever I store things in the buckets, I write the contents on the OUTSIDE of the bucket in sharpie marker. That way, I don't have to open buckets to find out what's inside. I can find what I need easily, pull the appropriate bucket (I also "group" my buckets by contents--grains, beans, ...
