Re: 2017 SEPTEMBER - What Did You Do To Prep This Week/Month

Hauled the Husky pup in to the vet this evening to get her rattlesnake vaccine "booster." While the vaccine does NOT eliminate the need for antivenin treatment if they get bitten, what it DOES do is reduce the SYMPTOMS (pain, swelling, and tissue damage), and gives them a little more TIME,...

Re: What to do if the SHTF and I am out.....way out.

Good to know. We have a pair of FMRS/GMRS radios. I had figured to just stick to the FMRS bands (no license needed) but now armed with that info, might just check into it.

Re: 2017 SEPTEMBER - What Did You Do To Prep This Week/Month

Got the closet system and started installing it...need to get additional screws to finish getting the hanging rods attached to the shelving units (since I bought an additional shelving unit, and have two of the rods attached between the two units, instead of between a shelving unit and the wall, the...

Re: 2017 SEPTEMBER - What Did You Do To Prep This Week/Month

Finished the cedar closet liner today! Now, I just need to get the closet system purchased and installed, and start moving a few things out there. Also got the saddlebags and trunk on the motorcycle cleared out, so that I can sell it.

Re: How do you kill a spider when you have 12ft ceilings?

And here, I was just thinking of using a vacuum cleaner with a LONG extension tube! That's what I use.

Re: Prepping Fatigue?

There are a LOT more people "prepping" than either "stats" or forum participation would indicate. For example, in my area, from what I've seen, and conversations I've had, probably a MINIMUM of 25% (and I think that the percentage is actually much higher). In my old neighborhood,...

Re: 2017 SEPTEMBER - What Did You Do To Prep This Week/Month

Still working on the cedar "closet lining" in the back of the shed...the back wall is about 2/3 finished, while the side walls are about 1/3 done. I'll probably need to get another 3 boxes in order to finish. Hoping to get it done this weekend, then I can start putting in the closet system.

Re: Older Home Canned Food

Can you tell me what type of apple you're canning? I've used NC mountain apples and I'm thinking they may be too soft. Maybe the firmer apples will can better. Mrs FP DEFINITELY use a firmer type of apple for canning! Some varieties are better for eating fresh; some are better for making able butte...

Re: Country Weapons vs City Weapons

Handguns AREN'T just for the city! I regularly carry my Ladysmith .357 loaded with shotshells out on the property...it's a LOT easier to take out a rattlesnake with THAT than with a long gun! Besides, when I'm out on the tractor, hauling animal feed, hay, etc. it's a LOT easier to carry a handgun th...
