Came across this today and thought it was a GREAT idea. I know it's been mentioned to use for caches, but I can't remember it being used as an idea for ADDITIONAL storage space (like under a porch, etc.). Here's a snip. Follow the link for whole article:

Space, or lack of it

Some things are just plain hard to find space for, so my solution is to create more of it without impeding the space already there for other things. PVC pipe is a great way to increase space, it can be any length, or diameter. It can hold anything from canned goods to rifles, it’s waterproof, very durable, and pest proof (except bears and wolverines…Ha). It can be mounted on the roof rack, side of a trailer, even underneath the trailer as long as it doesn’t interfere with the suspension etc.

It’s fairly cheap, readily available, waterproof, and easy to fabricate into any size you want. Just ... --- CONTINUED at LINK, above ---

Now that's a very ingenious idea! Thanks for posting that, RM.

I can see all sorts of ways you could incorporate storage PVC pipes into existing decor right out in the open. I especially liked these images I found on Google:

The simplest things that I learn on here are the best...while it is free, it has still been the best $50 I have invested in getting ready.

Actualy from having done numerous DIY plumbing jobs over the past couple of decades I have many "scrap" pieces stashed away im various sizes and lengths, so other then needing to buy some end caps the cost to me will be nill! Scooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I have a buddy that works for a local plumbing/HVAC company and he keeps all the scraps for me. I didn't know what to really use them for. I was saving them in case I could use them when I start building. Now I have something to use them for.

My kids always mimic me with "never know what you might need, until you need it", when they are making fun of me for picking up scraps of this or that.

So ... anyone who tries this, let us know HOW you used them.

Do you just put long pieces together?

Do you build something?

Do you use them as a frame to use under something else in your house?

Use them to store under your deck where there's lots of 'unusable' space?

Do you bury them?

Do you store stuff in them, and put them at the back of a shelf so they are hidden by what is normally on your shelf?

Post your ideas! -k

One could always try the local recycling depot store, second hand renovators stores or Habitat for Humanity Resale Store...Habitat has contractor left overs sometimes as well as good used/new/scratch & dent items.
