Antsy/Nervous: Any one with any common sence should feel that way. We are in a 24/7 news saturation either left or right leaning, and it"s only getting worse. Everyone needs to take a step back and take a big breath of air. Every Generation has some type problem that gets their head's spinning. Grandparents had WWII and the start of Cold War - Parents had Vietnam, Jimmy Carter, and the end of the Cold War - We have Clinton,B.O.,and a economic mess. What we are doing now is what our grand parents did and our parents got away from because of the almighty dollar. Here is my top 10 list of things that should ease worries: 10.Spending time with friends (other preppers). 9. Gardening start and harvestig. 8. Fishing and hunting 7. Foraging foods from the wild. 6. Getting away from the cell phones and T.V. 24 hour a day. 5. Simple family vacation's like camping (they cost less than a week in the Island's). 4. Summer home maintence or honey do list's. 3. Kids sports and practice 2. Reduce your debt. and my big number 1. Get back to believing that there is a higher power to lead us.

As mentioned in another thread I've had a bad feeling for several months now. I started with several lists that I thought would help me keep my thoughts under control. I'm still making lists. There is always something that needs done or bought. Sometimes I just feel like all I am doing is wearing myself out trying to stay ahead of the game.

I've discovered a great deal of the urgent/anxious/antsy feeling has left me now that I solved the rain barrel/water issue this morning. :) Evidently that was weighing heavily on my mind more than I realized. Bought from a local business that I've been asking for 2 yrs if they carry food grade drums only to be told no they didn't. Not only do they now stock them, they're also ridiculously cheap........AND he made one into a rain barrel for me so I could see how to do it myself for the next one. (I learn best by watching) It's so easy it's not funny. Personally.......given I know for a fact that as recently as last fall they didn't carry food grade..........I think it was a meant to be situation. :) I'm going back for more tomorrow.......I can only fit one at a time in my car. LOL

I would love to get some of those barrels, we have 4 corners where we can put them. If nothing else I would love to have some to gather rain water to wash my hair in. We did when I was growing up.

Stop it! You are starting to scare me and I've barely begun prepping. :(

If something was to happen now my family would be in serious trouble.

I know how you feel! I have been feeling horribly antsy and nervous lately and me and my husband are finally getting where we can start seriously prepping again. The whole thing in North Korea has us on the edge of our seats! I haven't been sleeping well and have constantly been online researching what I want to get. I feel like food and water are at the top of our list though, because without that there isn't really a need for anything else. We probably have a month supply of food put back for us, but that isn't nearly enough. I do though have at least a year supply of soaps, shampoos, and bathroom products! My husband sold his project car today (I was tired of looking at it! lol) and we went out and bought some extra food items. I have been praying every night that nothing happens, but something is bound to happen at one point or another and I just hope my family is prepared! Good luck to you and your family in your prepping! I don't know if your religious, but when I get this way praying really helps to calm my anxiety and take a step back!

So, pick the one you prefer:

1) get nuked all to hell by North Korea in about a second or so

2) slowly decay in an economic collapse that sees more and more people jobless and homeless and die on the street knowing that some jerk bought all your preps in Storage Wars for $100.

3) burn up from some kind of bird flu / SARS and cough blood until you die, while infecting loved ones

4) get laid off, put out on the street, where you contract H7N9, and right before you cough your last drop of blood out, you look up and see the warhead of a nuke coming right to a street corner near you.

5) run out of coffee for the next 30 years.

I don't like 5) that much either but I guess I could live without coffee if I had to.

I am not that worried about NK, actually. I think there are things at motion to prevent them from trying anything, things we don't know about (SAS teams, maybe even SEAL teams).

I do worry a lot about the economy. I am prepping for a personal financial disaster, like losing my job.

I worry a lot about GMOs and the food market being controlled by just two companies (patenting seeds etc.). It might be our downfall when they screw up and the crops get contaminated. I am starting a seed vault.

Usually I tend to save up rewards at places (like swagbucks or other reward programs) but for some reason I feel this insane urge to just cash them in because I keep getting the feeling that time is short.
Lately, I've gotten tired of the news so I haven't been watching it so it can't be anxiety induced by that, and actually I haven't come here a whole lot lately either. But I have just massively been getting the feeling that whatever happens, its going to be soon.
All the while shaking my head and telling myself I'm crazy.

Hell, just 3 months ago I kind of had a falling out with my Mom, she hung up on me so I swore I would not call her. Then just two weeks ago, the thought popped up, you better call her while you still can. Patch it up while you still can. So I did.

Ya know, two years ago(or somewhere in that time frame) I was feeling much the same way. We're still here and persevering. I agree, there doesn't seem to be anything positive in the news lately. It isn't always financially possible to get everything you want to get and being prepared is always a work in progress. My skill levels in many areas fall short of what they should be, but each step we take does give me greater peace of mind.

A year ago I felt we had about a year. Now that's it's a year later I still feel the same. The truth is that anything could happen in the coming year apart from some disaster scenario. I could get very sick, have a heart attack, get cancer or have a car accident. Lose a family member, like my husband, and have to carry on alone.

I'm not an overly religious person but this past year has seen my husband and I become reacquainted with our faith, after a lapse of decades. We have found great comfort in this and established a greater connection with our community and with each other.

I'm glad to see that you patched things up with your mother.

Not a problem for us! :D :D We store unroasted green coffee beans. Got lots of it already and going to be buying more here soon. Not cheap but you know, hubby and I were both talking last night. If/when the shtf we'll have loads of the stuff to use as barter.
People are always willing to do whatever they need to do/pay whatever they need to pay for their DOC (drug of choice). Be it, caffeine, liquor or cigarettes.
For the moment we live in a day of peace, but it shall not ever be thus. Great trials lie ahead... and we must prepare ourselves temporally and spiritually.

Me too Lynda. Something, call it a higher power or God told me over and over recently I should think about this because (and this is what made me more nervous) I kept getting this urging that time is short and I should patch up the relationship while I can still talk to her, that soon telephone calls might not be as simple.
Oddly enough, the same feeling has told me my parents will be fine. Don't worry about them and don't go too much into prepping to them as they will not listen. I've broached the topic once or twice, all of the times I sort of met resistance.
(Hubby thinks that my Mom's wealthy sister would help them out (Mom & Dad are now retired on the west coast). In the meanwhile the same feeling has urged me to become closer to my in laws as they could be helpful. And so they have. We compare our preps now on the phone as we found out they too are prepping in secret (except an open secret for the four of us).
My fil has a massive armory! :tank:  :tank: LOL Funny how that all works out.

Scientists say that your sub-conscious is always awake, always watching. It pays attention to things that you don't think are important.

When Swamp says "Pay attention to your gut feelings", DO IT!

We like to think that the conscious part of our brain, our immediate worries, our To-Do lists, etc, are the important worries, and that isn't always so. Our sub-conscious is always operating, even when we're asleep. And it can put things together better than your conscious thoughts.

And it may not be a national disaster that coming for you, it may be a local one, or a personal one. Just pay attention...

And I'm glad you made up with your Mom, too!

Very true Fussy. I too have had this impending sense of doom. I can only describe it as some patients know that they are going to pass or the doom right before a huge heart attack or aneurysm rupture. We all have that "6th sense" and must stay in tune with our subconscious. I am working on my gardens as we speak, picking up some rain barrels, and getting a dog. Dog? Because I need a dog who can alert me to things I may not be aware of (intruders, natural disasters, etc). And we've been wanting a dog anyway. Going to (hopefully) get my fence up this spring and get rabbits and chickens. I hope there is time.

Either way I am listening to my gut. And what my gut says, is not good. May we all be as prepared as we can be.

Sometimes, when your gut says something, everyone in the room can hear it.

condomain: as long as I'm wearing clean underwear, I can handle 1-4. No way can I handle not having my morning coffee! Your list cracked me up!

Lynda: My Faith has gotten me through some really horrible times. I never could have kept my sanity going through it alone. I used to worry about everything but now I listen to what He says and just do it. About 6 years ago I was pressed to stock up on food but didn't know why. Now I know. Call me crazy but, I'm to help feed his flock in the coming bad times. (Yes, I will do it secretely.)
