Sometimes, Having Livestock REALLY Sucks!

Postby IceFire » Tue Feb 06, 2018 8:59 pm

Sometimes, Having Livestock REALLY Sucks! Like at 5 o'clock this morning, when my LaMancha doe DIED after failing to deliver the 3 kids she was trying to deliver. :( Lost the kids, too...3 little bucklings. 2 were breech, and the way they were all positioned, they were blocking each other from reaching the birth canal. She died with her head in my lap...

Once it got light enough to see, I had to call in to work to tell them I'd be late, then start digging the hole to bury them in. Good thing I have a backhoe on the tractor.

Oh Ice.....I am so very sorry for your loss. Losing our critters can be so heartbreaking. I'm weepy just reading your post. And to have 4 of them pass in one swoop is just horrible. Again, so very very sorry. :( :(

So very sorry to hear this Ice. I have animals and understand how you feel. Crushing to lose the momma and 3 babies all at once. My wife gets emotional losing a chicken unexpectantly. I could only imagine how wrecked she would be after a situation like this. My thoughts are with you. This is devastating.

Oh my goodness! That is just awful! I am so sorry that happened to you and your family. I can't even imagine.

I’m sorry. BTDT. No good. Did you try to rearrange them manually? It can be difficult to get the correct 2 legs to pull on.

Thanks for the condolences, everyone. Hopefully, we'll have better luck with the cow. She's due soon, as well.

Cows are better, we fed tooo much protein to the goats early and they had 15 lb kids which killed about 15 mothers and kids. But we learn as we go. Dont feed grain to mama goats till just before they kid.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Ice! My extended family are goat people - they hate losing kids and mamas. It's so heart-breaking. :(
