I don't know about anyone else but I've been seeing a disturbing trend among posters(some new, some not) who advocate stealing, lying, cheating and resorting to any means they think necessary to ensure the well-being and safety of their loved ones.

This, to me, is ensuring that those same families would be placed in harm's way because of those actions and fly in the face of logic. It also demonstrates not a lick of common sense.

All of the above are NOT natural rights. Nor are they God given rights.

They contradict the whole premise of being self-sufficient and all too often are put out there in place of what is being done to properly prepare. Ideas of higher importance than relying on oneself or strengthening bonds with one's neighbors, friends and community.

I'd like to see fewer posts of this nature because it seems to me that these posts somehow seek to generate approval from others.

It is not your "right" to steal from others. God knows we already have government doing this to us.

It is not your "right" to compromise someone else's property, food, supplies and safety because you think you are more important or you will "do anything to survive."

Wouldn't it be better for all to consider what you can do for yourself BEFORE you entertain the idea that if the SHTF that anything goes?

Preppers prepare so that in bad situations they don’t have to resort to looting , cheating , stealing, etc. To plan to loot, and steal is to admit that you have failed to prepare. Read more and post less. There is a lot of good, legal info to be found here.

While there are no easy to find “Rules” here the Terms of Use state in paragraph four:

However, the Authors and Moderators reserve the right to edit, delete, or not publish a comment if it is deemed to be potentially illegal…..

So if you post something encouraging illegal activity don’t be surprised when a Mod deletes it or locks the thread.

I think one of the best reasons to prep is so you can do you best to avoid being in a bad situation where you might find yourself being a bad person.

Have the food you might need, the water you might need, and the means to protect it. Get yourself debt free. And then you will not really need to worry about the rest.

I'll add my vote - great post. Prepping is all about being prepared. Stealing from others is just the opposite.

Some of them what have an attitude of 'I got me a gun, I'll jes take whatever I need' may find themselves having a bad day coming up against folks that are well prepped and expecting exactly that kind of thing.

From a newbie.. Thank You! I have found myself thinking sometimes that if that is the type of people who are going to be left, I don't know if I want to survive. I've read a lot of apocolyptic books, and there are always some characters who think they can prey on others. I can understand why the government is beginning to think Preppers will be the problem in a disaster situation, because some of them will. I wish they could be censored or banned or something, because everything they learn here will just keep them around longer to terrorize people - and because I really don't want to be affiliated with would be terrorists.

Lynda makes a great point about the natural rights we have. However, our natural rights are only as certain as our next meal. Before we were civilised enough to recognise rights, we were the apex predator in every environment we inhabited. As our existence becomes more primitive, so shall our behaviour become more primal, atavistic...
Each and every one of us, will kill or be killed. We will protect our babies or we will be extinct. I tend to reply harshly to those who plan to start that way because it is only our frontal lobes and our compassion that separates us from the animals.

Thank you! you stated what many have been noticing and not happy about. We aren't all wanting to be lumped as "crazies" and those types of posts push us there -- and IF those tinfoil hat type conspiracies have even a bit of truth, those government spies many fear will be all too happy to go after all of us as the terrorists we don't want to be accused of being!
