DIY Underground Shelter - With parts

Postby Whisper » Sun Sep 10, 2017 10:19 pm

Hey all

Somewhere around here, I posted the idea of making an underground shelter using dry stacked concrete blocks. Well, I found a place that's current that sells a roof system as well as all the parts, like air filtration, doors and all the rest. It's very possible to make a DIY safe bomb shelter for your family without breaking the bank. Your just going to have to work your butt off to do it LOL

I plan to :) I miss my PA house that came with one.

I have nothing to do with this site at all.

It has to be waterproof, how are you going to do that to keep out water infiltration.?

quik solution for the harder part of a underground shelter - the roof - depending on the overall $$$$ it could be a good deal .... pouring a basement with the correct french drain system and waterproofed/insulated is done everyday ....

Very interesting....Looks like an option for an extremely well build.

I'm completely ignorant to average cost to these type items but is $20K plus all shipping cost a good deal for a 14' X 20' parts only?

I think I saw at one time a shelter company putting something just a bit smaller completely for you for a little more in cost...Also had the air filtration and blast doors and escape hatch.....Am I wrong in that recollection?

Again, I really don't know so please excuse the ignorance if I'm just way off base here....Thanks for the link.
In honor of RebNavy...RIP buddy. You made me smile. :)

Driven, are you sure you are from Kalifornia? You make a lot of sense.
