The multimillion Wisconsin gun store verdict that could

The multimillion dollar Wisconsin gun store verdict that could reverberate in the gun debate:

A great excuse to raise liability insurance rates! Pity the small dealers.

[snip]

In an unusual case, a jury in Wisconsin declared Tuesday that a gun store had to pay millions of dollars to Milwaukee police officers who were shot by a firearm bought at the store.

The case offered an attention-grabbing combination of factors, including a rare loss for the firearms industry, a verdict awarding more than $5 million in damages, injured police officers and a contested gun sale. And it also arrived as the country discusses gun violence in the wake of another mass shooting, an ongoing conversation that has led to presidential candidates debating a federal law that protects gun sellers and manufacturers from liability.

Experts say the Wisconsin verdict’s long-term impact could be significant if it prompts a surge in new lawsuits aimed at the firearms industry and at the federal law’s exemptions, though they caution that the case is far from over, as the lawyer for the gun store says he plans to appeal.

Hillary wants to rescind the law that protects firearm manufacturers from being sued also. She says she will use executive action to make it so. Considering how much Obama and his pen and his phone have gotten away with, I am sure Hillary could have a grand time doing the same. I hope her head pops like a big zit.

The only rebuttal I read said she couldn't/wouldn't get away with it because Congress will "exercise the power of the purse" to stop her.

..."A hostile legislature could also hamstring the measures that Clinton wants to enact by executive order. Congress has the power of the purse; it can – and does- block funding for even modest gun control initiatives."

That worked so well with Obama.

Well hell more bull crap , they could not sue the buyer who sold the gun to the punk because he had no money . The store owner who sold the gun followed the rules sold the gun and the thug resold the gun . The punk broke the law not the store owner .

According to what I saw the guy that bought the gun checked the box where it said he was not buying the gun for himself....The Clerk told him you don't want to check that and corrected that so it wouldn't red flag the sale...The Gun store WAS at Fault. The Gun store did NOT follow the rules. And by the way this place has been selling guns like this to thugs and criminals for years. 537 guns sold by Badger Guns have been used in murders , Robberies and other crimes. Will it cause us Gun owners problems....Probably unless it can be shown most other gun dealers don't operate this way.

Sgt if this is a fact then I stand corrected .
The buyer would not lie , to cover his ace .
The sales person would not lie also .

This would be a good time to keep a paper trail of all the things you no longer have. While it is still legal to sell stuff and there are no specific requirements! Just about anything with a nane and date in your writing will do at this time. Might be helpful in a future filled with more and more regulations. Costs nothing and just might be helpful. Have you ever noticed all the information they post in obituaries! Nothing better than a dead end road. Swamp

This gun shop broke the rules numerous times and SHOULD have been shutdown LONG ago. Research the gun shop before passing judgement. They repeatedly sold guns to KNOWN straw purchasers.

Who got to sue the government for straw purchases under F & F ? When they armed the Mexico cartels . Did any one of the dealers pay millions in fines did the government pay a fine for straw sells ? Did they pay the widow of the officer killed not wounded but killed ?
So the gun dealer in question has done no more than the government has done . The only difference is they sold a few where as the government allow thousands to be sold with the knowledge and blessing of the Feds .
This verdict has opened a can of worms , the only ones that will benefit from it will be the anti gun lobby .

The form is a 4473, and the question is 11a; Are you the actual transferee/buyer of the fire arms listed on this form. Warning: You are not the actual buyer if your are acquiriing the firearm(s) on behalf of another person. If you are not the actual buyer, the dealer cannot transfew the fireare to you. Exception: if you are picking yp a repaired firearm(s) for another person, you are not required to answer 11a and may proceed to question 11b.

Now,I sell and pawn firearms, if 11a is no, they dont get the gun, if the say no to 11b threw 11L they dont get the firearm. Its that simple.

The most recent one was a guy was picking up a pawned gun. And answered yes to a question on 11i, for domestic violence. After he signed the form I informed him that because he answed that YES I was by law not to give him back his firearm.

The law will work if it is followed, now this doesnt work with non dealers. Tho if you are a private person selling a gun to someone else, it is your responsility to make sure that people can legaly own a gun.

SO yes if the dealer changed or had the buyer change the form then they did wrong.
Just my 2 cents.
