New:Black Bean Burger Mix!

Postby LetsPrep11 » Sat Apr 15, 2017 11:38 am

Saw this new product from Augason Farms and thought it looked interesting. Serving has 5g Protein, Vitamins A and C, Iron, and Calcium.
Has anyone ever tried this Black Bean Burger mix? Do you think stocking this is a good idea?

I would avoid this product as a serving has 120 calories and 460 mg of sodium. You get around 5% of your caloric needs, but 19% of your daily sodium. I have tried this product and the taste is not bad for bean burgers. A single serving is not going to satisfy anyone, other than a seventy pound dedicated lettuce eater.

A soy TVP is a better choice for long term storage and you can season it yourself. Lentils is the best alternative I have found for those not wanting meat. Really easy to make and lentils store well. Swamp

I ordered a can of Augason farms from walmart (9.99) instead of Augason farms price of $17.89. Got it yesterday and just got done eating two for lunch. Not bad, but I did add an egg, some sweet baby ray BBQ, some beef TVP, cheese on top and a little bread crumbs. I'm now going to order a case from walmart to add to my preps.
