Hi Pathfinder, the typical 3% peroxide will generally store for about a year and onced opened about 30-45 days. I have a bottle in my bathroom thats been there for at least 2-3 years and still use it, but as it is inexpensive I should replace with a new bottle. hope this helps.

I don't know what % my open bottle would be now, but it still foams up and has been opened but kept closed, for more than 10 years at present.

I have maybe 8 to 10 bottles stored in a cool area with various dates. Some past their date, use it as needed and buy new ones to replace them. I have used bottles 2 to 3 years past their date and they foamed up when used and seemed to have their antiseptic properties intact and still had their "peroxide" smell. I believe at worst they turn to water, sterile water (if unopened) at that still usable for flushing wounds.

Here's what I found in a quick search...

http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/health/b ... -products/

"Hydrogen Peroxide
When to toss: After six months if it's been opened; three years otherwise. To test whether it's still effective: "Pour some into the sink-if it fizzes and bubbles, it's good," says Marc A. Sweeney, Pharm.D., an associate professor of clinical pharmacy at Ohio Northern University. Expired hydrogen peroxide is ineffective but not harmful. "

Thanks, RatDogMom, my 10 year old opened stuff must still be good, it still fizzes up.
