Thanks Prepper Mom.
I really need to get back there. Soooo close to my work, but I am usually on auto pilot when my shift is over. My car automatically heads for the hills....lol

PrepperJason- no worries. If that is the worst thing that happens, I think we are all doing just fine and dandy. :)

LDS store website question

Postby Flamedeep » Tue Nov 05, 2013 10:07 am

Okay, I have ordered from the LDS store website in the past. I go on there today and the only food they have listed now is rice, wheat, and the starter kits that have several different #10 cans of food. I have purchased beans and oats previously. Anyone know why they no longer have those available for sale?

This may help explain why:

http://www.preparednesspro.com/breaking ... nationwide

I have not been to my local cannery for quite a while but I did learn from them in March that there would be no more "canning", that everything was coming in already canned and stock would be limited. I thought they meant that there would be limited amounts, not limited number of items.
Time to get my butt in gear and get back down there.

I was on there the other day and they did not have any rice or flour available but they had lots of wheat, beans and the starter kits.

I think its based off whats available.

A word of warning concerning the oats. I purchased a 25lb bag from my LDS cannery last January, put it in a 5 gal. bucket w/mylar and sealed. In May I purchased another 25lb bag of oats, but this time I removed a couple cups of oats for breakfast. When I added water to the uncooked oats a lot of black objects floated to the top. Bugs. Dead bugs. I put a sample under the microscope to confirm. I have since gotten rid of the buggie oats and am replacing them with a big brand name from the grocery store.

I would like to add that the bulk 25lb bags of beans, flour, rice, etc. etc. that I've purchased from the same place appear to be clean, with no problem.
